2013 agenda

I’ve been a bit lazy in my posting, but have had a lot of stuff going on. I won’t bore you with details, but it’s been everything from taking care of Mom to going to Vegas. Now, it’s time for me to get things lined out & see if I can be more productive in taking care of some stuff.

Mom is allowing me to set up my sewing room at her house since I’m there most of the time that I’m not at work, & since the house will be ours when she is done with it. That sounds a little morbid, I guess, but I’m really not wanting to rush her. My setting up a sewing room at her house makes it easier to spend time with her & not be sitting & twiddling my thumbs. I am not good at sitting & doing nothing. It also allows me to get her opinions on projects & include her in them. Mom is the one who taught me to sew & inspired me to be creative.

The first item on my agenda is to get the room organized & set up like I want it. Right now, I’m going through some stuff to see what I really want to keep & what I want to share, or just toss in the garbage. I’ll have to be a little creative in setting the room up & furnishing it because I have some big furniture that I want to use & the room will also have to serve as a spare bedroom. As I get the room lined out, I’ll post updates, complete with photos.

After I get the room lined out, I want to finish several UFOs (UnFinished Objects) & make a wardrobe that fits. I have 1 quilt that I’m actively working on, with 2 more in the works. There are 3 more quilts that I inherited to finish. One from my Grandma, one from hubby’s aunt, & one quilt top that someone bought several years ago, & she decided she would never finish it, so she gave it to me. Then, I have one I started many years ago & a tablecloth that I started. It won’t take long to finish it, but it’s just a matter of getting to it. Then, there is the cross stitched animals that I started at what seems like a lifetime ago. When I’m not organizing or stitching, I also have family history to work on.

2013 is lining out to be a very busy year. What is on your agenda for the year?

More Crayola ideas

Now that you may have seen some “adult” fun with Crayolas in my last post, check this out.  You can use the same Crayolas that the kids use to make quilts.  There are several tecniques, but this one seems to be the simplest.  I’ve seen a youtube video that teaches melting the crayons & painting the fabric, but I’m not that artistic.  I think I could do some simple designs with this idea, though.  http://www.mesew.com/crayonart.html

I have some coloring books that I got at Hobby Lobby that would be perfect for this type art.  They are from Dover publishing, but are also available at Amazon.com.  Some such as these would work up to look like stained glass.  http://www.amazon.com/Decorative-Designs-Coloring-Dover-Design/dp/048645195X/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1345832053&sr=8-8&keywords=coloring+books

I would love to know what you think about this idea.  Oh yeah, get your own box of crayons & don’t pilfer from the kids.  😀
